It’s the Month of the Military Child: Here’s Where to Find Events in Your Area
April 26, 2018
It's the Month of the Military Child, an annual, month-long celebration of the youngest members of the military household. Anything that affects military members also affects their children, and often, military children are faced with their own unique struggles. During the Month of the Military Child, we honor the sacrifices made by children in military families through various activities and services thorughout the country.
The Month of the Military Child was officially established in 1986, when Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger initiated this month-long celebration and the Department of Defense quickly honored her initiative. Since the Month of the Military Child began, there have also been many more awareness campaigns geared toward educating people about the struggles military children face, as well as support programs thorughout Department of Defense Dependent School System (DoDDS) and much more.
