Keep Cool This June With Help From Slide the City’s Giant Slip ‘n Slide, Not Far From Yorktown
May 29, 2015
On Saturday, June 20, the city of Hampton will be underwater—or, at least, a 1,000-foot strip of it. That's the day that Slide the City comes to Settler's Landing Bridge. This massive water slide measures 1,000 feet long, about the length of three football fields. That means even if you decide to only do a single slide (you can also buy a wrist band for three or unlimited slides), you'll still have plenty of time to splash around.
The traveling slip 'n slide company sets up shop not far from Yorktown right along Settler's Landing Road, so don't miss your only opportunity this summer to zoom down its neon green and blue slide. When they set up, staffers ensure that there's ample padding beneath the slide, so you don't even need to bring an inner tube to whip down it (though most riders do). It's wide enough to accommodate a few sliders at a time, so bring your whole family along to take a trip down the slippery slope. Don't worry about wasting water, either, because Slide the City recycles its water throughout the day and donates it back to the area when possible.
